GITEX Global 2026 moves to December and Expo City

GITEX Global 2026 runs 7-11 December at Expo City, not October at the World Trade Centre. What the move resets if you exhibit or attend.

GITEX Global 2026 moves to December and Expo City

GITEX Global 2026 runs 7 to 11 December at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City. Not October. Not the World Trade Centre, where it had been for 45 years.

If you exhibited last year, roughly everything you wrote down about how to do it again is now wrong: the quarter, the address, the hotel rates, and the point in your sales year when the leads arrive. The show itself is fine. Your calendar is the problem.

What actually changed

The move was announced by the UAE Government Media Office, by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, under directives from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Three things moved at once.

  • The venue. Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City, which is undergoing a $2.7 billion expansion to become the largest purpose-built indoor events venue in the region.
  • The season. October to December, deliberately aligned with Dubai's tourism season and the D33 economic agenda.
  • The scope. GITEX Global and Expand North Star consolidate into one platform, alongside a new initiative called TechCation that pairs the show with leisure programming across the city.

The venue expects more than 200,000 attendees from over 180 countries, with 6,800 exhibiting companies and 400+ government entities across the North and South halls.

The date most people will get wrong

There are two dates in circulation and both are correct, which is exactly how people miss flights.

The GITEX Scale Summit runs on 7 December. The exhibition floor runs 8 to 11 December. So the show is five days if you are attending the summit and four if you are not. Book against the wrong one and you either arrive to a closed hall or miss the day with the highest concentration of senior people in one room.

What resets if you exhibit

A stand is the least of it. The things that quietly break are downstream.

Your lead cycle moves a quarter. An October show puts leads into November and December — inside the same financial year, with budget still live. A December show puts them into January and February. Deals that used to close against this year's budget now land against next year's, which has not been approved yet. If your pipeline model assumes a Q4 close from GITEX leads, it is wrong by one quarter and the shortfall will look like a conversion problem rather than a calendar one.

Peak season pricing. December is Dubai's tourism high season, which is stated as a reason for the move. Flights and hotels in early December are not priced like flights and hotels in October. Whatever you budgeted for travel, revisit it before you commit the stand.

A venue nobody has muscle memory for. Expo City is a different site with a different layout, different logistics access and different transport. The knowledge your team accumulated about the World Trade Centre — where to load in, how long the walk is, which hall placement is worth paying for — does not transfer. Treat 2026 as a first-time exhibit even if it is your tenth GITEX.

Follow-up runs into a dead fortnight. The show closes on 11 December. Most of your prospects' organisations wind down within two weeks of that. You have a narrow window to make contact before mid-January, and a generic follow-up sent on 15 December will not survive the return-to-work inbox.

What to do about it

If you are exhibiting, three things are worth doing now rather than in the autumn.

  • Rebuild the plan from the new dates rather than editing last year's. Editing produces a document that says December at the top and assumes October everywhere else.
  • Move your qualification effort earlier. If leads will not close until Q1, the value of the show is in the quality of conversations, not the count of badge scans. Fewer, deeper meetings booked in advance beat volume you cannot follow up before the shutdown.
  • Plan the January re-contact before you go. The follow-up sequence is the part that actually converts, and it now has to survive a three-week gap.

If you are attending rather than exhibiting, the calculation is simpler and slightly better. December in Dubai is more pleasant than October, the consolidated format means fewer competing events to choose between, and the Scale Summit on the 7th is the day worth protecting in your diary.

Why we are paying attention

We serve the UAE from Dubai and exhibit at GITEX, so this is a plan we are rebuilding ourselves rather than one we are commenting on. The consolidation with Expand North Star is the part we think is underrated: it puts the enterprise buyers and the startup track in one place, which changes who you are likely to run into at a stand.

It also changes what is worth putting on a stand. An audience that mixes funded startups with government buyers rewards showing a system that runs over showing a deck about one, which is why the work we take with us tends to be platforms already in production rather than concepts.

The practical consequence is unglamorous. Check which of the two dates your booking refers to, reprice the travel, and move your revenue expectation one quarter to the right. Everything else is the same show.

If you are going and want to line something up rather than trade badges on the floor, book the conversation before December. Diaries for that week fill up well before the halls do.

Frequently asked questions

7 to 11 December 2026. The GITEX Scale Summit is on 7 December and the exhibition floor runs 8 to 11 December. This is a change from the show's traditional October slot.

The Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City Dubai, across the North and South halls. The venue is undergoing a $2.7 billion expansion. This follows 45 years at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The stated reasons are alignment with Dubai's tourism season and the D33 economic agenda, plus consolidating GITEX Global and Expand North Star into a single platform with a new TechCation initiative.

The venue expects more than 200,000 attendees from over 180 countries, with 6,800 exhibiting companies and more than 400 government entities taking part across both halls.

Leads land in Q1 rather than Q4, so deals close against next year's budget. Travel falls in Dubai's peak season, and the new venue means logistics knowledge from the World Trade Centre does not transfer.
